Talk to us

Cognitive behavioural therapies focus on helping people with unhelpful thoughts and patterns of unwanted behaviours, including evidence-based and scientifically supported approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy.

All therapies provided at HTC are trauma-informed, meaning that they are safe and appropriate for anyone, no matter your circumstances and history. Some of our therapists also specialise in treatment and recovery from trauma and traumatic life experiences. Trauma-focussed therapies include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) and more.

Humanistic therapies focus on what is most important to each person, and arise out of philosophies such as Existential, Gestalt, and Person-Centred modalities.

HTC is unique, in that many of our therapists have additional training and expertise in integrative and expressive therapies, such as Art Therapies, Play Therapies, Yoga Therapies, Somatic Therapies and many more. These are integrated with core psychotherapeutic techniques, and tailored according to each client's needs.

Enquire Now

Absolutely. Recent evidence shows that clients prefer to determine the direction of their therapy. Some common preferences are:

  • I want a more free-flowing experience

  • Allow me to find my own way

  • I’d like a gentle approach

  • Teach me skills to deal with my problems

  • I want to be challenged

  • I have a specific goal or concern to talk through

  • I need a little more structure in my therapy session

The answer to this is different for everyone. Some clients prefer short-term solutions focussed therapy and some prefer developing a longer term relationship and incorporating therapy into their lives. Some come in crisis and may require more frequent sessions initially, and then slow down as they progress. We can help you find a path forward that suits you.
