Professional and Clinical Supervision at Harbour Therapy Clinic in Coffs Harbour.
Professional Supervision at Harbour Therapy Clinic, Coffs Harbour is based on a formally arranged relationship between supervisor and supervisees that creates a safe supportive situation conducive to learning through reflection, exploration, discovery, and application. The supervisor takes primary responsibility for the supervision of each supervisee or supervisees when in a group context where they also facilitate members to provide feedback to each other and are encouraged to share their own professional wisdom with the group.
Our process is based upon the most recent research into maintenance of the health and wellbeing of mental health workers, counsellors, psychotherapists, social workers and psychologists. The process can be likened to a spiral, which initially captures relatively unformed ideas and issues, identifies them and eventually deepens and clarifies understanding and meaning, ending in a plan for practical application.
Professional supervision between participants will involve a reflective conversation around topics of the supervisees’ choice with the aim of enhancing the supervisees’ development as professionals and enhancing outcomes for clients. Professional supervision takes into account professional and personal objectives within the context of organisational expectations.
