Mirella Gleeson
Holistic Counsellor & Psychotherapist
Mirella is a recent graduate in psychotherapy and is beginning her journey in private practice at Harbour Therapy Clinic, Coffs Harbour.
A wealth of life experience has given Mirella clarity of insight and sensitivity, lending itself well to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy and what it is to be human.
In April 2019 Mirella received PACFA’s (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) Outstanding Graduate Award in Counselling and Psychotherapy studies.
Mirella has been involved in the health field for over 20 years working in a wide variety of roles including disability support work, crisis support for Lifeline, telephone counselling and managing and supervising large teams within supported housing projects for vulnerable adults. She was the co-founder of the popular Bluespirit yoga and healing centre that was based in the Blue Mountains.
Mirella is currently in training as a Registered Nurse to complement her therapy practice. She has a particular interest in indigenous health, extreme states, conflict issues and dreamwork.
Her training at Metavision was integrative, influenced by the work of Steiner, Peter Levine (Somatic experiencing) and to a large extent by Process Oriented Psychology (POP) created by influential psychotherapist Arnold Mindell. POP itself is inspired by many traditions including Jungian theory, Gestalt and Taoism. Central to the work is to align with the flow of a ‘process’ a client brings based on the idea that to follow nature is to align and harmonise with the law of all things thus promoting balance.
Her interest and love of working with dreams took her overseas to train with dream expert and teacher Robert Moss (author of Active Dreaming – Journey Beyond Self Limitation to a Life of Wild Freedom) becoming an Active Dream Teacher.
Mirella works with a variety of issues with the aim of guiding clients to develop greater self-awareness and insight. Supporting clients to connect with their self-mastery, abilities and potential, which may lay dormant, blocked or neglected when faced with difficulties and many kinds of trauma.
