INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS REFRESHER DAY
FACILITATED BY EMMA DIAMOND
HTC WELLNESS STUDIO- 35 ORLANDO ST, COFFS JETTY
SATURDAY 20TH MARCH 2021- 8.30 - 4.00 P.M.
Pre-requisite: Completion of Introduction to IFS training.
This CPD event is a practice day for those who enjoy using IFS therapy in their practice. With an aim to deepen practice wisdom in the application of the IFS protocol with common client presentations Emma will assist practitioners to build a more nuanced, systemic perspective on the IFS framework, one that applies itself to complex presentations and common challenges. Utilising the basic steps participants will be learning via experiential exercises and group practice.
This work also includes a focus on therapist parts and how to work in real time with what arises within our own systems during sessions and as an accumulative impact of the work we do.
This training event is for those who have a working knowledge of IFS and have attended the introduction to IFS training.
Outcomes:
Internal Family Systems Therapy asks the practitioner to become aware of their own ‘parts’ in session. Whether it be ‘parts’ that want to rescue, be alarmed, bored, tired, stuck, theoretical, confused, nurturing, overly-responsible, burdened or blended (etc.). Our ‘parts’ can both inform practice as a resource or impact our clients progress.
Emma enjoys facilitating an exploration on the way our clients impact us and how we can learn to identify, appreciate and relax aspects of our professional selves in order to be available to our clients with an open relaxed focus, drawing on experience, practice wisdom, ethics and training with ease and confidence.
There will be an opportunity for developing an ongoing practice group with Emma arising out of this CPD event.
You are welcome to join the Gentle Yoga practice at the studio as out guest at the end of the session if that is your thing. Bring your yoga mat and a towel or sarong.

This training event is for those who have a working knowledge of IFS and have attended the introduction to IFS training.
Outcomes:
- Theory- Working with the protective system and various structural systemic presentations for example polarisations and critics.
- Instruction: Refresher on the order of the steps to take and what to do when the client’s system is highly protective and complex
- Practice: Working in triads, dyads and the group focussing on following the steps. As always, we place safety first and remind everyone to be mindful that this is a practice session not personal therapy. Please only bring forth material that feels safe for you to explore, and give yourself permission to stop the process at anytime. Also consider roll playing a current client or common presentations you often grapple with.
